The painting classes offered in both pastel and oil always focus on compostion and color as the core of the instruction. The classes are geared to all levels . Students who are more advanced  come for mentoring and guidance and others  including beginners come to learn new techniques and work on color and compositional  issues. Value exercises are also key in my painting classes.

Pastel techniques include optical color mixing ,mark making,and underpainting in both oil and watercolor. A variety of pastels and papers are used for experimentation.

Oil techniques focus on direct painting using both palette knife and brushwork  and color mixing exercises. Students also learn a variety of ways to do an underpainting and the effect it has on the work.
